Our log homes
We use only Eastern White Cedar from here on the Bruce Peninsula or from the Ottawa Valley. Cedar is the optimum wood for a couple of reasons.
- It has a natural rot resistance which means, if maintained, it will last forever. Farms have used cedar rails for fencing for centuries and they are still around today.
- It is a very stable wood, once cedar is dry it has a natural resistance to reabsorbing moinsture so it does not expand and contract like other wood.
- It has the best "R" Value of any of the other woods traditionally used in log homes.
