Our log homes

We use only Eastern White Cedar from here on the Bruce Peninsula or from the Ottawa Valley. Cedar is the optimum wood for a couple of reasons.

1. It has a natural rot resistance which means, if maintained, it will last forever. Farms have used cedar rails for fencing for centuries and they are still around today.
2. It is a very stable wood, once cedar is dry it has a natural resistance to reabsorbing moinsture so it does not expand and contract like other wood.
3. It has the best "R" Value of any of the other woods traditionally used in log homes.
